About the scholarship
The University of Maine Pulp + Paper Foundation offers full and partial tuition scholarships to first-year engineering students at the University of Maine. Our mission is to prepare and support future leaders in the paper industry by providing financial assistance, expert guidance, and direct access to co-ops and career opportunities.
Before you begin your application
This is a time-sensitive form. It must be completed in one session. If the form is left idle for too long, it may time out, and your work may be lost. To avoid issues, please prepare the following materials before starting your application.
What you will need to complete this application
- Your high school transcript, including at least through grade 11
- A PDF letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee that explains:
- How you have become familiar with the pulp and paper industry
- Why you are interested in engineering and the paper industry
- Any additional information that supports your application
- Your contact information (including both student and parent emails)
- Academic information, including GPA and optional SAT scores
- A list of academic honors, school activities, and employment
- Parent or guardian approval (electronic signature required)
Important submission details
The application deadline is Dec.31. Applications received after this date may only be reviewed if funding is available.
Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation message on your screen and a confirmation email. If you do not receive both, please contact jen.ireland@maine.edu.
