Career Prep + Job Connections
- Resume Reviews and Workshops: Industry volunteers provide personalized feedback and host online sessions, so your resume stands out for internships, co-ops, and full-time jobs.
- Job Placement Support: Each fall, we coordinate Interview Sessions where dozens of companies come to campus to meet students. We handle scheduling, logistics, and resume packets so you can focus on making a great impression.
- Company Information Sessions: Casual, low-pressure events where you meet employers, learn what they do, and enjoy some free food while exploring your career options.
Professional Networking
- Networking Opportunities: Meet alumni and industry leaders at UMPPF events and through programs like the Chinn Management Seminars and TAPPI involvement.
- Paper Days: Our biggest event of the year! Two days of panels, roundtables, and informal conversations that often lead to co-ops, job offers, and lifelong mentors. Many alumni call it the “true homecoming.”
- Fall Scholarship Banquet: A celebration bringing together students, donors, and company partners to honor scholarship recipients and strengthen community ties.
Academic Success
- Tutoring and Academic Support: Connect with extra help in your toughest engineering courses so you can stay confident and on track.
Student Life + Leadership
- Student Organizations: Get involved with the UMaine TAPPI Student Chapter or join TREE (Travel and Research Expedition Europe) to build leadership skills, expand your global perspective, and make lifelong friends.
- Travel and Industry Exposure: With partner companies in all 50 states, students can pursue opportunities nationwide — often with housing or travel stipends. UMPPF also supports student travel to national and international conferences, technical workshops, and research expeditions.
